What many people don’t realise about the amazing continent of Africa is that, well first of all it is in fact a continent and is not a country meaning that there are so many wonderful places to explore, it also, not only has the best safaris the world has to offer (especially in the south which is where I come from) but in addition to this it also has some of the best islands and beach resorts that this world has ever seen, among them being the island of Zanzibar.
Zanzibar was founded on the 10th of December 1963 and is a Tanzanian archipelago off the coast of East Africa. This island is bursting with culture and history! On its main island of Unguja – a Stone Town and historic trade centre with Swahili and Islamic influences. Zanzibar having being traditionally a centre for merchants, explorers and, more recently, backpackers. But with the new movement of luxury resorts, the Tanzanian archipelago is becoming an attraction for travellers who enjoy luxury five-star vacations.
The best times to travel to Zanzibar are in the months of January and February as this is when the temperature is at its peak and there is little rain fall and although there is more rainfall, October and December are also good times to go. In regards to safety, common sense prevails. During night time, you are advised to take a taxi no matter how short a distance. Checkout this thread for more advice.
