Spring has finally decided to grace us with it’s presence, and i thought that this season is a great time to get rid of everything that you no longer need in your life and it pains me to say this as a fashion blogger but yes this also means getting rid of that 5 year old jacket that you have worn twice in the last year that you clearly hold on to dearly.
Since I am a girl I buy a lot of clothes over the space of a year and i have to be honest that it is really hard to get rid of some of the items that you have owned for years because they hold so many good and bad memories but sometimes it just has to be done in order to open a new chapter in your life. Unlike me my brothers have no problem with throwing stuff away but after all they are boys!
When reorganising your wardrobe these are the questions that you need to ask yourself, do i really need this? Am i ever going to wear this? When am i ever going to wear this? Should i donate this to charity? Should i sell it? Does it still fit? or Should i just toss it?
In every woman’s wardrobe there is always at least one staple piece item that will never go out of style and is perfect for every season like a biker jacket and that one comfortable jumper that goes with absolutely everything. Am i wrong?
When most people think spring cleaning they always thing clothes but what about underwear and socks? don’t tell me that you still have 5 year old underwear in your draw! Secondly, why do people never give tips on how men should clear out their wardrobes i mean it’s clear that we now live in a new era where men are truly interested in following fashion trends! If any of you out there are looking for a new spring/summer underwear check out Tommy John’s men range.
How to know when to sell an old item of clothing:
- it doesn’t fit
- its not your style any more
- you hardly ever wear it
How to know when to give away an old item of clothing:
- You can’t sell it
- It’s not underwear
- it is’t broken or discoloured
How to know when to bin it:
- it’s underwear and it’s torn or broken
Here are my 3 most important tips for rearranging your wardrobe.
- Prioritise – organise everything into categories of what you want to sell, donate and bin
- “one year rule” – If you haven’t worn it in the last year then it has got to go because your clearly no going to wear it any time soon.
- Colour code and buy some new hangers – you don’t want to do all this hard work just to go back to a messy closet.
